and "Man and Gravity" two new short films by Jakrawal Nilthamrong will be shown in International Film Festival Rotterdam and Oberhausen in next coming year.

Orchestra HD/Stereo/22 mins supported by Jim Thomson

Comment from the festival:
And artists undertakes an attempt to make a documentary. He looks with admiration at workers in a silk factory but doesn't forget to create art.

With a sensitive eye for detail, the film maker made a small group portrait of five employees in a silk factory in his country. He gazed in fascination at the production process, but also how people live and dream. He sees the factory as an orchestra in which the machines and the employees are the instruments. A visual symphony.

Man and Gravity HD/Stereo/10 mins supported by rijksakademie

Comment from the festival:
A man with a colourful tricycle tries to raise an impossible freight in inaccessible surroundings. Gravity, but also karma.

Just like gravity, karma works everywhere, even though you don't see it. You only see the result. All over Asia you see people with impossible loads on their bicycles, scooters or small vehicles. Here a man tries to lift a truly impossible freight in an impossible and hostile environment. The unusual landscape emphasises the metaphorical quality of his toils. Serious as evidence and yet unmistakably funny.

"My image observes your image, If it is possible to observe it" by Phuttiphong Aroonpheng
HD/Stereo/6 mins supported by Irish Museum of Modern Art

Comment from the festival:
A Thai film maker in Ireland. He can't take his eyes off it. Like a cloud, he floats past the buildings. A cloud passes literally. An observation cloud.

Phuttiphong Aroonpheng made this work during an artist-in-residence programme at the Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) in Dublin, Ireland. The Thai film maker gazed in amazement at his new northern home base. He floated like a cloud through his temporary city, literally and metaphorically.
